Things are looking extremely grim for me
I was wrongfully banned on Facebook, and I am now having trouble reaching my fans.
I’ll start out by warning you all that this post is unlike others that I’ve released here on Substack. It doesn’t deal with religious texts, nor does it grapple with man’s philosophies.
Instead, I’m going to update you all as to what’s going on in my life. I don’t necessarily think any of you can help with the underlying problem — it’s a unique situation — but if there’s anybody who has been wondering where I’ve been, I hope this serves as an update.
It started about a week ago, when I logged into my Facebook app and got an alert that my account had been permanently disabled. There was no reasoning, but there was a button that said “appeal.” I was allowed to press the button, but not to include any additional writings or reasonings as to why that was the wrong decision.
In any case, that appeal was denied and my account was permanently disabled. The ultimate reasoning given was related to impersonation, meaning the Meta team basically banned me for impersonating myself, my own fan page.
Since that time, I’ve taken every recommendation I’ve received. I have sent emails to all the addresses I’ve been given, I tried bug reports—and I even verified with Meta my facial profile as if my account had been hacked. Nothing worked.
At this point I can hear some of you sighing. “It’s just a Facebook account,” a well-intentioned individual might say. While that is true, this is different than Uncle Jeff being booted from a social media platform for being racist online. We’re talking about a fan page with a quarter of a million followers, and the source of most of my marketing for my writings, as well as most of the income for my family.
Therein lies the problem. I have become too reliant upon Facebook to get the word out about my writings, and I’m ready to rectify that. That means becoming more active here on Substack, as well as on my already booming Patreon. If you are looking for my work, those are the two best places, although I hope you’ll also follow me on Instagram (which I still have access to, for some reason).
If any of you kind people have read this far, and want to help me, here are some ways:
Sign up for a paid subscription here on Substack. I will be posting a lot of free essays to this site, but I’m only able to do so because of those who choose to help by getting a paid subscription.
Sign up for my Patreon. All subscriptions to my Patreon are paid accounts, but it’s worth noting that I have a fixed income option that’s only $2. Patreon recommends your starter tier cost at least $3, but I got special permission for a less expensive option. I currently have about 400 pieces on that site, including essays on religious criticism, interviews with celebrities, behind-the-scenes stuff from my farm, and more.
Contribute for small claims court option. I’ve been told by dozens of high-profile people that I might be forced to go to small claims court to get my account back. I was recently hit with some major medical bills, so I can’t afford to do so yet. If you’d like to send a one-time contribution to help, you can send it to David@DavidGMcAfee.com on PayPal or @DavidGMcAfee on Venmo. I also have CashApp here.
Even if you’re unable to help in any way, I would appreciate you commenting, sharing, or doing anything you can to spread the word. I truly appreciate you all.
Stay Reasonable,
David G. McAfee

I'm sorry that this happened to you. Zuck is an @$$hole oligarch.
Oooof, David. I'm so sorry to hear this.
